How long has it been since you had a good laugh?
“It’s been a long time since I had a good laugh. It’s been a long time since I had laughed to the point where I got tears in my eyes. It’s been a long time since I had a genuine laugh and, it feels as if I am being fake.”
Have you ever felt this way?
I have and, this is one of the worst feelings ever. It’s just, you know that you are smiling, but you are not happy. I knew that I had to make this better and get myself out of this place where I was. So, I started trying different ways and, surprisingly, one way worked out for me:
1) Start with finding the cause!
You have to start with asking yourself this one simple question:
“What is the thing that triggers this wave of sadness inside me?”
In my case, it was the tension about my future. I was like: “ I don’t know what I am going to do in my life… I am lost in this big pool of opportunities because I don’t know what my passion is.”
2) Try finding people who have talked or written about your triggers:
In my case, I found two amazing TedTalks and, they acted as an eye-opener to me. I don’t have the links right now but, these are the two things I learnt from them:
“ Success fuels passion, not that passion fuels success.”
“ You don’t need to worry about what you are passionate about; just do the task in front of you by giving your 100% and, this is what being passionate means.”
Learn the main points made in the talks and articles you will read and apply them to your case.
3) Don’t overthink and just take the leap!
Just start small and try out things that have the potential to make you happy. Start writing gratitude journals consistently and learn to be content with what you have but never stop thriving for happiness.
